Hey Transit Fans! On Saturday, September 19, Golden Gate Transit was proud to participate in SFMTA Heritage Weekend at the San Francisco Railway Museum on the Embarcadero. This popular annual event celebrates San Francisco’s iconic transit heritage and showcases historical vehicles that have connected the city and region for over a century. The District was pleased to contribute our vintage 1971 GMC “New Look” bus (in service from 1971-1994), and a Golden Gate Transit operator to show it off and answer questions.

This Transit Month, nominate your favorite transit hero for a chance to win an award from the San Francisco Transit Riders and Seamless Bay Area!

For example, nominees could be: 
 
An amazing bus driver, train operator, station attendant, or ambassador. 

People who have spoken up effectively for transit or helped other riders. 

Improvements you’ve seen on your trips such as new transit lanes, boarding areas, better signage, or clear communication.

Any people or improvements that have made transit better in some way.

Effective Sunday, September 13, 2026, Golden Gate Transit will make schedule adjustments to improve system efficiency. Highlights of this service change include:

🚌172X resumes. Due to high demand, express commute service between Santa Rosa and San Francisco is back.
🚌Reduced Friday schedules on commute routes 114, 132, 154 & 172; see affected trips at the link below.
🚌Combined timetables for 580/580X and 172/172X on print materials only. Online timetables and maps will remain separate for these routes.
