Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce for a tour of our terminal. We were proud to offer a closer look at how our team keeps cargo moving, supports local jobs, and contributes to the strength of the San Pedro Bay port complex. Thank you to the Chamber for spending time with us—we truly value the opportunity to stay connected and share the important work happening on the waterfront.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our YTI Holiday Dinner, bringing together YTI team members and valued industry partners for an evening of connection, reflection, and celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to look back on an impactful year and enjoy time together outside of the day-to-day.

Alan McCorkle shared a few thoughtful words, recognizing the YTI team for their consistent, dedicated work throughout the year. We also honored team members celebrating milestone anniversaries ranging from 5-30 years, recognizing the commitment and contributions of those who have helped shape YTI over the years.

The evening wouldn’t have been complete without a little holiday fun. Our Ugly Christmas Sweater competition brought plenty of laughs and festive spirit, with so many creative entries from both the ladies and men. Congratulations to our winners, Craig Samoy and Suzanne Contreras, for taking home the top honors in their respective categories.

Overall, the night was filled with laughter, celebration, and meaningful moments, bringing the YTI team together to reflect on a great year and head into the holiday season feeling connected and grateful.

Last week, we had the pleasure of participating in the Salvation Army’s Christmas Adopt-A-Family program. This program was created to help out low-income families during the holidays and times of need, and it continues to be a meaningful and heartwarming way to give back to families in our community.

This year, we were happy to help out a total of 36 participants enrolled in the program, including both families and individual children. Contributions were shared across departments, with the Rail, Yard, Marine, and Customer Service and Communications teams each taking on four children, while Dispatch took on five. Together, we were proud to come together to make a meaningful difference for families and children who need it most during the holiday season.

A special thank you and shoutout to our very own Barbara Jansen for spearheading this program at YTI for several years. As she prepares to retire at the end of this year, we want to recognize her dedication, leadership, and continued commitment to giving back. She will be greatly missed, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.

Giving back as a team made this holiday season even more meaningful, and we’re proud to be part of a community that cares.

Last week, we hosted our Annual Trucker Holiday Lunch Celebration, a tradition we look forward to each year. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and also meet trucking companies that are new to us, all while sharing a moment of appreciation for the hard work that keeps our industry moving.

During the event, we heard from Alan McCorkle, who spoke about the vital partnership between the trucking community and Yusen Terminals. His remarks reinforced how essential this relationship is to our daily operations and how committed we are to maintaining and strengthening that partnership.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, from both the trucking community and our YTI team. We truly appreciate you taking the time to spend part of your holiday season with us, and we hope the celebration brought some extra cheer to your week!

Earlier this week, we welcomed representatives from Triangle Group, Pacific 9, NFI Cal Cartage, Overseas Freight, Inc., UUL Transportation, IMC Logistics, and JC Transport for our Bi-Monthly Safety Focus Meeting. These small-group sessions give us the space to have meaningful conversations about safe practices, reinforce expectations, and collaborate on ways to keep drivers safe and the terminal operating safely and efficiently.

Each discussion is a reminder that safety is a continuous effort, one built on accountability, partnership, and the belief that every incident can be prevented. We appreciate the engagement, insights, and commitment shown by everyone who joined us.

Thank you to our partners for your ongoing dedication to building a safer environment for all.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce's Coffee with the Chamber event featuring Dina Aryan-Zahlan, Deputy Executive Director, Development. It was an insightful morning where we heard updates on the current state of the Port, key priorities for the year ahead, major initiatives underway, and the recent achievements shaping our industry.

We’re grateful to the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce for hosting another valuable event and look forward to future opportunities to participate.

Earlier today, Yusen Terminals had the pleasure of hosting students from the Crespi Carmelite High School STEM Program for a tour of our facility. The group brought incredible energy and curiosity, a vast array of thoughtful and engaging questions about container ships, ports, our operations, technology, and sustainability initiatives. These students came to learn, that’s for sure!

It was inspiring to see the next generation of innovators showing such strong interest in port operations and the future of logistics. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to support educational programs that spark curiosity and open doors to STEM careers and look forward to making this an annual visit from our new friends at Crespi!
