SLO Transit Providing Transportation for the City of San Luis Obispo since 1974. The City has an estimated population of 42,963 (2006 Census Bureau estimate).

The City of San Luis Obispo is centrally located in California between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo is also home to the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a major source of population, employment, and other overall economic and social impacts. San Luis Obispo Transit (SLO Transit), a City entity with service operation contracted to First Transit, provides fixed-r

oute bus service throughout the City of San Luis Obispo. SLO Transit operates a total of eight regular bus routes on weekdays and four routes on weekends, as well as a Downtown Trolley Thursdays through Sundays. SLO Transit has carried more than 1 million riders during the last two Fiscal Years.

RIDER NOTICE

DELAYS and MISSED SERVICE

Effective today, 08/28/26, until further notice.

Due to high ridership levels, traffic congestion, and road impacts from construction, SLO Transit is experiencing delays in service including missed loops.

Routes that are experiencing the most impacts are routes 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B.

During this time, SLO Transit encourages its riders to review their trip ahead of time and plan for potential delays.

Riders can track their bus and trips in real time using the Transit App found here: www.transitapp.com

Riders also have the ability to receive the most current route and schedule information by calling Transit Dispatch at (805) 541-2877.

We apologize for any inconveniences our riders are experiencing and appreciate your continued patronage of the city’s public transportation system.

Effective Tuesday & Wednesday, 8/18 & 8/19, due to heavy road impacts in the Cal Poly area, and anticipated service delays during Cal Poly move-in week, SLO Transit will detour routes 3A/B and 4A/B.

SLO Transit will provide normal service Fri & Sat, 8/21 & 8/22. We encourage riders to track their buses with the the Transit App in case minor delays occur due to traffic congestion.
