SLO Transit Providing Transportation for the City of San Luis Obispo since 1974. The City has an estimated population of 42,963 (2006 Census Bureau estimate).

The City of San Luis Obispo is centrally located in California between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo is also home to the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a major source of population, employment, and other overall economic and social impacts. San Luis Obispo Transit (SLO Transit), a City entity with service operation contracted to First Transit, provides fixed-route bus service throughout the City of San Luis Obispo. SLO Transit operates a total of eight regular bus routes on weekdays and four routes on weekends, as well as a Downtown Trolley Thursdays through Sundays. SLO Transit has carried more than 1 million riders during the last two Fiscal Years.
