On this 120th anniversary of the greatest tragedy in San Francisco history, transport yourself back to just a few days before it happened, by taking a cable car ride down Market Street, with full narration to explain where you are and what you're seeing.

Muni Heritage Weekend will be September 19-20. Details in the link.

We will have all sorts of great things at the museum, even beyond the streetcars, buses, and (nearby) cable cars. Huge memorabilia and book sale, kids' games, and much more.

The Fairmont is supporting our San Francisco Railway Museum (and its nonprofit parent, Market Street Railway, with a cable car-themed tea service on Thursday afternoons. They also supported our honoring of Tony Bennett with a dedicated cable car two years ago. Kudos for honoring our cable car history!

Dear cable cars,

You’ve carried the rhythm of the city up and down these storied hills, your bells echoing through time, your presence as iconic as the skyline itself. You remind us to slow down, to savor the journey, to hold on just a little tighter.

XO - Fairmont San Francisco

Inspired by the charm and timeless romance of our city’s original transportation, we invite you to experience our Cable Car Afternoon Tea — a celebration of San Francisco’s most beloved tradition. Delicate pastries, refined teas, and a touch of nostalgia, all served with a view that feels like poetry in motion.

Here’s to the climb, the view, and the magic in between.

A portion of Afternoon tea proceeds will be donated to the San Francisco Railway Museum.
