Passage fixes! When you're crossing an ocean, or going on any long passage, you can expect for some things to fail. As a competent captain, you need to know how to repair all critical boat systems. In this case, the glue on boom joint peeled apart as soon as we raised the sail, day 1 out of Maui HI. With 30 days to go, I constructed a long term solution that would resolve the issue. I decided to barrel splint the separation. I wrapped it in cordage, Wire, and again in line. No doubt, this was the strongest point on the boom. The fix was successful, and we sailed safely to San Francisco.
