We’re celebrating a new relationship as sister ports with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in the Philippines.

Our new partnership creates opportunities to expand trade, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on shared interests. Subic Bay and the Port of San Diego also share similar business lines, including cargo and cruise operations, shipbuilding facilities, marinas, and an airport.

This new relationship strengthens our global trade and cultural connections while supporting future collaboration between our two ports.

️Ready, set, sail! 🌊 A new nautical-themed playground has arrived at Harbor Park, formerly known as Bayside Park. 🎉

Now open on the Chula Vista Bayfront, the playground features:

🛝 Slides
🧗 Rope-climb hill and climbing equipment
⚓️ Nautical-themed play features
☀️ Shade structures
🌳 New landscaping
🚶 Wide pedestrian walkways

And there’s more to come! A family-friendly splash pad is set to open in spring 2027. 💦

The improvements are part of the ongoing transformation of Harbor Park, which will double the recreation area from 12 to approximately 25 acres, creating more space to enjoy the Chula Vista Bayfront.

🌿 Sweetwater Park is growing more than just native plants!

The 39-acre park on the Chula Vista Bayfront is part of the Biodiversity in Urban Gardens (BUG) statewide community science study, which looks at how native plants support native wildlife in urban areas across California.

From native bees and butterflies to birds, lizards, and mammals, observations help build a better understanding of the wildlife that native plants support. 🐝🦋🐦

Got expired or unwanted marine flares? Bring them to our FREE Marine Flare Collection event on Saturday, October 24 and help keep old flares out of our waterways. 🚤

Join us from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. near Shelter Island Boat Launch to properly dispose of your expired or unwanted marine flares. As a thank-you for participating, you’ll receive a FREE electronic signal flare per vehicle, while supplies last. 💥
