Our Lagoon 380 catamaran is now available to rent from San Diego for rentals and instruction! Cruise in comfort around the bay or for multi-day trips to Catalina.

Now booking for charters to qualified/certified individuals (3 day minimum July-Sept), private instruction, or call our office to get put on an interest list for upcoming group instruction (details to come!)

Pre-req for cat instruction course: Bareboat Cruising certification or equivalent experience

Announcement: Closure of Long Beach Facility

The marina we operate out of in Long Beach has not been able to negotiate a lease extension with the Hotel Maya and the hotel has decided to close the marina. We are therefore forced to close our Long Beach club and are in the process of moving the fleet back to San Diego. There are unfortunately no other marinas in the Long Beach/Los Angeles harbor that can accommodate the fleet along with an office to run the operation. We regret having to close the Long Beach club but at this point we have no other viable options.

Individual yacht rentals are booming at HIYC and here we r conducting our first corporate sailing regatta since Covid cancelled sooo many! A small group of just 24, from out of state & staying at Hotel Del Coronado. It was a spectacular San Diego afternoon that we are typically accustomed to sharing with out of town groups. Masks and distancing protocols followed while on shore with breeze & sunshine adjustments once on the bay and under way! Let’s hope this is the start of the turn-around with lots more regatta events to come.

World Ocean's Day.....was last Monday! But there should not be a day, a week, a month, a year that we don't have our amazing ocean in mind, how to keep it clean & beautiful for ourselves & future generations. Who wants to sail through a sea of plastic bags, floating mylar balloons, anchor off trash-covered beaches. I know i don't! OPEN for BUSINESS...and LEISURE of course! Summer breezes & sunshine welcome you all back to San Diego bay at this time. We are back to work.....taking all the mandated & suggested precautions to provide your family & your co-workers a very safe & enjoyable experience. Our management was instrumental in designing the 'opening' procedures for all charter operations in San Diego so we are at the forefront on what is required. Get your family together, & talk to your boss about a company bonding activity on the bay. Small corporate regatta events are available for as many as 120 guests or as few as 12. Despite this 'thing' we are all going through....we are still shooting to conduct our 1,000th Regatta event in 2020.....just 22 events to go. Will you be part of this count down?

Just an example of the 1,000's of photos we've taken over the last 20 years conducting corporate sailing regattas at Harbor Island Yacht Club. You wonder how we kept track....that we are today up to 976 regatta events....for 66,000+ corporate employees. Well...all these albums help. A couple of old client testimonials as well. And my old Sony Mavica camera...the first digital they produced...had a floppy disc in the back that could record 8 to 12 images only. I spent all night processing those images for clients, one floppy at a time. But the camera was awesome....great images...point & shoot ease. Come and join us....get your team fired up!

Counting down to 1,000th event in 2020! Yesterday was corporate sailing regatta #974...102 guests on 17 yachts....and I have been on the committee boat taking photos for almost 950 of those events. That's like 65,000 happy faces that I've had the privilege to entertain on San Diego bay. 1,000....here I come!

When you conduct 5 corporate sailing regattas in a span of 6 days, you can be sure that there are some great photo opportunities. This sequence was a lot of fun....for the guests as well as me behind the camera. We have a lot of identical yachts....which for smaller groups up to 50 you are "all in the same boat"...as such! Talk to your boss about a team regatta for your office / company. If you are more than 50....we mix it up with yachts for up to 120 and give each size yacht a different handicap.....which again gives everybody equal chance for the 'bragging rights'. Just a few more fun photos taken during our 950+ corporate sailing regatta events over the years. These include: Regatta boats at the bottom mark....me on the swim step of a 42 with camera at lowest position without getting it wet + a regatta 270 crossing path of a huge ship, which is not so scary considering the anchor chain of the ship is hidden behind the sails + again trying not to get run over, this is the private 'Whirlaway' visiting San Diego one regatta afternoon...and I couldn't resist the opportunity for some fun photos.
