🔴‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE 9/2/2026 ‼️🔴 PLEASE SHARE
My team and I have been in active ongoing conversations with HHSC, including again early this morning, to provide options for relief for our constituents. We understand that constituents have been experiencing issues and conflicting information at some local HHSC offices and have again notified HHSC about these issues.
➡️ We have information we have received directly from Austin Texas HHSC office:
🔴ENROLLED AUGUST SNAP RECIPENTS:
▪️You are eligible to submit application for reimbursement for your losses after the storm. We know this sounds too good to be true, but you may declare in person that you were an affected resident by the storm. We have confirmed that you should not have to have a form/letter from CPS Energy.
▪️Visit your closest HHSC office to submit their form for reimbursement (It is an affidavit you do have to sign in person in front of HHSC.)
🔴For those who are NOT ENROLLED and need to apply for SNAP Benefits:
▪️Visit your local HHSC office or the San Antonio Food Bank to enroll
We are actively working with SA Food Bank and HHSC for options to allow the Food Bank to process reimbursements. For now, if you are working on a SNAP reimbursement please visit the local HHSC office.
🔴➡️ If you are still having issues, please contact our office directly at 210-733-6604, or DM your name, phone number, and the address of the HHSC SNAP office location you went to so that we may assist you!
🔴‼️UPDATE 1:20pm 9/2/2026:
We understand everyone is frustrated and there is a lot of information being shared around regarding SNAP reimbursement, especially online.
🔴Our team was just at the HHSC Castroville location, and we spoke with the supervisor. She understands the emergency of this situation and is working to ensure SNAP benefits are processed and reimbursed within 24 to 48 hours. We will be visiting additional locations in person to talk to supervisors directly.
▪️Please note those elegible for reimbursement must have been enrolled in SNAP during this storm.
▪️If you were not already enrolled in SNAP, you can apply to enroll for future benefit assistance.
🔴For those who do not receive SNAP benefits and have lost food during the storm, we are sharing any food distributions as we receive them and they are confirmed.
▪️If you know of any orgs, churches, etc. that are helping the community, please share org name, address and any details here in the comments.
▪️You can also check by your zip code for any upcoming food distributions here: https://www.freshtrak.com
🔴For those requesting disaster assistance, the Governor has not declared a disaster. We will continue to share any updates as they are received.
