WTS San Antonio

WTS San Antonio WTS attracts, sustains, connects and advances women’s careers to strengthen the transportation industry.

It is an international organization with more than 8,500 professional members across the globe, supported by dozens of local chapters. Founded in 1977, the Women's Transportation Seminar was created through the efforts of 40 women involved in transportation in the Washington, DC, area who recognized that a mechanism was needed to enhance professional and personal advancement and to develop industr

y and government recognition of the increasing involvement of women in the field of transportation. WTS is now an international organization of more than 4,000 transportation professionals - both women and men - with 45 chapters representing cities and states in the United States, Canada and Great Britain.

You are not alone. Your life matters. There is help available.

📞 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 for free and confidential support.

Let’s use this month to:
Check in on our loved ones.
Share resources and stories of hope.
Break the stigma around mental health.

Big thanks to everyone who joined our August Program, which welcomed not only transportation professionals but also our kids – the next generation of industry leaders. Special thanks to the WTS San Antonio Region Programs Committee and TxDOT for hosting such an engaging and memorable session.
Speakers:
Diana Rogerio – District Design Director
Marco Galindo – Alternative Delivery Supervisor
Moderator: Elvia Valdez – I-35 NEX Project Manager

They shared insights on how Texas delivers major infrastructure projects, their personal journeys into engineering, and how the San Antonio District is leading in digital delivery.

The kids (and parents!) especially enjoyed the TxDOT Concrete Table, getting hands-on with real bridge-building materials.
It was a day filled with inspiration, learning, and future dreams in the making. 🚧✨making. 🚧👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Dont forget to follow WTS SAR on social media and our email blasts to keep track of all our upcoming events.

Thanks to everyone who read Binti by Nnedi Okorafor and joined us Bilia Eatery with open minds and great stories to share.

We may have been Earthbound, but with a little sci-fi and a lot of good conversation, it felt like we stepped into another world for a bit.

This round of WTS Reads reminded us that even a sci-fi novella can open the door to meaningful conversations about leadership, identity, and where we find belonging.

Already counting down to the next one!

This year’s WTS Capital Summit welcomed 45 students and mentors from around the country. It was a week full of learning, connection, and new experiences, and San Antonio brought their best.

Three impressive students from the Young Women's Leadership Academy participated in tours of the Metro Forward Carmen Turner Facilities, BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), and Maryland Department of TransportationHanover Complex. They also had the chance to meet transportation professionals from across the country, connect with peers from different backgrounds, and take in some of the history and landmarks that make Washington, D.C. such a memorable place to explore.

We’re proud of our mentors, Allison Nagelberg from Pape-Dawson and Maricela DÍaz-Wells, AICP from VIA Metropolitan Transit, who guided, encouraged, and represented our chapter with heart and leadership.

Thank you to WTS International for making this impactful experience possible, and to our chapter sponsors and donors for helping these future leaders access it.

And very special thanks to Heather McNeal from Pape-Dawson for her year-round leadership of Transportation YOU in San Antonio.

At WTS SAR, we celebrate Pride Month — a time to honor the history, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. As we reflect on the progress made and the work still ahead, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a transportation industry that is inclusive, equitable, and welcoming to all.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths. By embracing authenticity and championing representation, we move closer to a future where everyone can thrive.

This Pride Month and every month, WTS stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. Together, we move forward with pride.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing journey toward equity and justice. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally received word of their freedom. This day marks a pivotal moment in American history and continues to inspire reflection and action.

We are committed to advancing equity and inclusion in the transportation industry and beyond. Juneteenth is not only a time to honor the past, but also to reaffirm our dedication to creating a future where opportunity, access, and representation are truly equitable for all.

Let us continue to listen, learn, and lead with purpose.
