1961: R. Wayne Bost Trucking started with one used tandem dump truck working with Paul M. Bost Trucking of Rockwell, NC.
1962: RWB traded for one new tandem dump truck and in the next several years added two more new tandem dumps and used tractor trailer dumps. We worked in this type of business for seven years.
1968: RWB trip leased tractors and trailers to Maybelle Transport Company of Lexington, NC to haul highway salt. After about six months, we signed a continuous lease agreement and started pulling mostly dry bulk tankers, hauling cement. We later hauled molten aluminum, commercial and edible salt, fertilizer, various liquid products and fuel products. Maybelle Transport Company was later bought out by Fleet Transport Company of Nashville, TN.
1977: RWB cancelled its contract with Fleet Transport Company and signed a contract with O’Boyle Tank Lines, Inc., of Rockville, MD. We had six tractors at this time.
We also signed a contract with International Salt Company of Clark Summit, PA, to handle the transloading of all salt through their Charlotte, NC office.
1978: RWB took over the operation of the Charlotte terminal from O’Boyle Tank Lines.
1979: RWB incorporated the business as R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc.
1980: R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. took over the operation of the Augusta, GA terminal from O’Boyle Tank Lines. The two older children, Jewel Ann and Mark Wayne, became more active in the company by taking on full-time positions.
1985: R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. leased four tractors and drivers to Mid-Atlantic Explosives, Inc., to haul explosives in vans; we did this for about three years. We were also under contract with O’Boyle Tank Lines.
1987: O’Boyle Tank Lines, Inc. and Quality Carriers merged; Quality Carriers being the surviving company. R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. signed a contract with Quality Carriers, Inc. of Bristol, WI.
1989: All authority was approved for R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. This authority includes: Motor Common Carrier, Motor Contract Carrier, Broker, Freight Forwarder, and Water Common Carrier.
Quality Carriers and Montgomery Tank Lines merged; Montgomery Tank Lines being the surviving company. R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. signed a contract with Montgomery Tank Lines of Summit, IL.
1990: The youngest of the three children, Bradley Aaron, having graduated from Catawba College with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting, changed from part-time to a full-time position in the company.
1991: R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. authority was activated, and we began hauling with two trucks under the motor common carrier authority. R. Wayne Bost received a satisfactory rating from the US Department of Transportation.
1992: R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. presently owns and operates thirty-four (34) trucks under contract to Montgomery Tank Lines as an affiliate carrier and owns and operates three trucks under R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. authority. In addition, R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. owns three (3) 1990 MC307 Stainless Steel Brenner tankers and leases from Montgomery Tank Lines, forty-one (41) MC307 Stainless Steel tankers, and nine (9) aluminum dry bulk tankers.
R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. has its main office at 220 W. Ritchie Road, Salisbury, NC 28147. R. Wayne Bost Trucking Inc. is a family-owned and operated business that includes the father and founder, a daughter and two sons.
