Vamos Afuera Salinas / Take It Outside Salinas Big Sur Land Trust is partnering with several community organizations in Salinas to carry out an outdoor celebratory event including many activities.

Big Sur Land Trust is partnering with several community organizations to carry out a Take it Outside California! event in Salinas, California. The event is intended to celebrate parks and open space, and to highlight the many benefits of
nature to communities. In the city of Salinas, only 3% of the land is dedicated to parks, equaling 2.9 acres of park per 1000 people, which is far b

elow the California state average for other dense urban cities. It is therefore more important
than ever to celebrate the spaces that the city currently offers and to advocate for new community parks and open space. Big Sur Land Trust is currently working with eight different community organizations on the event programming and logistics. The event will include public live art, a gardening workshop, a skateboard competition, live culturally relevant
theatre performances, live music from youth groups, tabling by various organizations involved in the outdoors and community health, and other activities.

Vamos Afuera/Take It Outside Salinas! is only four days away! In addition to many activities including birdwatching, a bike ride through nature, gardening demonstrations, kids' race, live music, dance, and theater performances, community members are invited to bring a photo or other items to honor their ancestors at a community altar.
