Boom repair.
This client had an accidental gybe that sheared off the vang bracket.
The previous bracket was just surface welded to the boom, so we are beefing up the design.
If you look at the sketch, you will see that the bracket is now inserted into a slot in the boom, so that it is loading up a much larger surface area, and then we are adding a doubler plate to the exterior to further strengthen this area.
Of course, the next step after this will be repainting so it all looks good as new again.

Guys, this stuff isn’t easy.

So many angles to make work… and keep it all strong enough for offshore conditions.

and making progress on this articulating stern platform.

I really can’t wait to see how well this custom folding stern platform turns out.

The fab team is working hard to bring this one together. Lots of tricky geometry involved… Finished product coming soon.

On his “workiversary” too!

Shout out to all the team members for all the hard work, often in difficult circumstances.

Sometimes the slip situation, combined with a vessel with engine troubles, means we pull the mast from a little further away than usual.

In this case, we had some structural steel in the way, so the easiest path was to do a high pick point on the mast, keep it bottom heavy, and just swing it up and over everything nice and slowly.

Easy does it… Nice and slow, and everything goes beautifully smoothly.

From the electrical team.

We are writing to advise you regarding the Victron Venus OS V3.73 firmware update released on May 19th.

Clients who have installed this update are reporting connectivity issues with CAN-bus connected items and MPPT solar controllers. Currently, these devices require a hard reset—completely depowering and repowering the unit—to restore functionality.

We recommend that you do not install this firmware update until these issues have been fully investigated and resolved.

More cotter pin criminal activity spotted on this Tayana…

YES, I said cotter pins again. I KNOW that there will be a bunch of split pin advocates in the comments…

Changing the world, one pin at a time…
