Members of the MSP Airport Police Department Honor Guard are in Washington, D.C. this week for National Police Week — a congressionally established tradition dating to 1962 that honors the service and sacrifice of officers killed in the line of duty.

The team began by volunteering at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport alongside honor guards from departments across the nation, welcoming those traveling to honor loved ones lost in the line of duty. On Wednesday, they escorted survivors at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial's 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil.

Their week concludes today with the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol.

Sun Country Airlines' special edition retro livery made its Minneapolis debut today. It's only the second special livery in the airline's 43-year history and is dedicated to co-founder Jim Olsen, who passed away last month.

This Police Week, we’re honoring MSP’s Airport Police Department by sharing Officer Miller’s “day in the life” from the night shift – proactively patrolling the airport, enforcing state statue and the Metropolitan Airports Commission’s ordinances, responding to calls for service and engaging with our airport community, employees and passengers. There’s time to reset, too: a shared meal and a wellness hour during long nights.
