He wasn’t even our customer.
But when we heard that someone had stolen a chair that had been passed down in his family for generations, we knew we had to at least try to help.
We reached out and offered to pay for the chair, even though we were not responsible for it.
He told us, “No monetary value can replace this. It’s been passed down for generations.”
So we started looking.
We searched online to see if maybe whoever stole it had listed it for sale. Eventually, we found a chair that was extremely similar and sent it to him.
We asked, “Would this be an okay replacement?”
He said yes, but only if we gifted it to him, because then it would still carry sentimental value.
So that’s what we did.
We bought the chair.
We gifted it to him.
Not because we had to.
Not because he was a customer.
But because it mattered to him.
And at Big Ben’s, we believe people matter more than policies, and doing the right thing still matters.

One of our customers hired a POD-style moving company for a cross-country move because it sounded easy, affordable, and convenient. Everything was packed up and sent off, and she thought the hard part was over.

But when the POD finally arrived at her new house, she got a call saying she had to pay an extra $2,500 before they would even unlock it. If she didn’t pay within 5 days, they would take the POD away with all of her belongings still inside.
