Is there any interest in a RUNNER version of Planet Ultra's Mt. Everest Climbing Challenge? We're happy to add a category for our running fans... Most expeditions to Everest take about two months; and many never make it to the summit.
Starting Monday, October 12th, you have 50 days to climb 29,029'. Run, walk, hike- just GET THERE. We're challenging our Planet Ultra runners to not only make it to the summit, but accumulate MORE climbing than our cyclists. Our first Everesting Challenge is nearly over. Our cyclists will have climbed well over 2 MILLION feet.

America Strong mileage challenge was created to inspire everyone to stay active, fit, strong, positive and motivated while we’re TOGETHER, but apart, during the COVID-19 crisis. Regretfully, after meeting with the head ranger yesterday, we've abandoned the idea of hosting an event in the Valley of Fire. Visitation in this very small park has grown exponentially. The Park's focus is preservation, not additional visitation. It's simply not feasible to host an event there for the indefinite future. Sorry.

Hey Valley of Fire lovers! We're meeting with powers that be in the State Park on Oct 22nd to see if we can't come up with a trail/dirt route for which they'll grant a permit! :-)

Please note: Valley of Fire State Park has advised that they will NOT grant a permit for our road race in 2019 due to a combination of the increased number of visitors in the park, and the decreased number of runners at this event. We're looking for an off-road alternative. Please post a comment if you'd be interested in an off-road alternative.

We're sad to report that we received notice from the Valley of Fire State Park that they will not grant our permit to host this race in 2019. Citing a 50% increase in visitors in the past several years and a decrease in Park staff, they don't have the resources to support our small race. If you're unhappy with this decision, please feel free to reach out to the Valley of Fire directly.
