✈️ Keeping Our Airfield in Top Condition

Last week’s airfield closure was a productive one! In addition to the comprehensive FDOT pavement inspection, our team completed runway and airfield lighting maintenance while the airfield was closed.

Taking advantage of planned closures like this allows us to tackle multiple projects efficiently while continuing to prioritize safety, reliability, and the long-term condition of St. Augustine Airport.

We were proud to host the St. Johns County Young Professionals Program at the St. Augustine Airport this week!

The evening brought together emerging professionals and local leaders for networking and a panel discussion on career growth, personal finance, taking risks, and community leadership.

We were especially proud to have St. Augustine Airport Authority Board Member Mario DiPola join the panel and share his experience alongside other local leaders.

⚠️ CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

St. Augustine Airport will temporarily close the airfield on Friday, August 21, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to support an FDOT inspection of all airfield pavement.

This comprehensive inspection will evaluate the condition of our runways, taxiways, and other paved airfield surfaces, helping identify maintenance needs and plan future infrastructure improvements.

During this time, all runways will be closed and aircraft arrivals and departures will not be permitted. Normal operations will resume upon completion of the inspection.

🌅✈️ FUN FACT: Every morning at SGJ starts with an airfield inspection.

Morning inspections help identify potential hazards before daily aircraft operations begin. The runway, taxiways, signs, lighting, pavement, and surrounding areas are inspected for anything that may need attention.

It’s an important part of preparing the airfield for a safe and smooth day of operations. 🛫
