The Online Market is open for the week!

What's on the menu this week? Eggs! 🍳🥚

We currently have four of our local farms supplying eggs for the weekly market, and we love all the colors, shapes, sizes packed in every carton! Pictured here is the flock from Thrall Road Maple. You really can't beat farm fresh eggs for their taste, color of the yolk, and knowing that those chickens were free range right down the road on a nearby Vermont farm 🥰

Are you a creemee person or a fro-yo person? Either way, June’s Harvest of the Month (Dairy) is here to beat the heat and satisfy your cravings. Dairy is a versatile crop that we rely on to produce all kinds of products, from sweet treats like ice cream and whipped cream, to others like cheese, yogurt, and butter.

National dairy month is here!

It’s National Dairy Month, and we’re celebrating the "Spring Flush!" 🌿🐄
Have you ever noticed that organic, grass-fed milk looks a little more golden this time of year? That’s no accident—it’s the magic of the Spring Flush.

As dairy animals are turned out onto lush, green pastures for the first time after winter, they feast on new growth that is "flush" with everything nature has to offer. This transition leads to a natural surge in milk supply and a beautiful change in quality:

✨ Deep Yellow Hue: Fresh spring grass is packed with beta-carotenes, giving the milk a richer color and a more complex, delicious flavor. ✨ Better Fat Quality: While the amount of fat stays steady, the quality of that fat improves with the move to fresh forage. ✨ A Seasonal Celebration: Because most northern pastures are ready for grazing by mid-May, June is the perfect time to celebrate the abundance of organic and grass-fed milk!

When you choose organic dairy, you’re tasting the direct result of thoughtful land management and the natural cycles of the seasons. 🌎🥛

Next time you pour a glass of local organic milk, take a look at that golden hue—that’s the taste of spring!

As we prepare for another season of growth, renovations, and expansion at VFFC this summer, it feels especially meaningful to reflect on where it all began.

If you haven’t seen this beautiful short film by Great Jones Productions sharing the origin story of Vermont Farmers Food Center, it’s well worth five minutes of your time, and you may spot a few familiar faces 😊

VFFC has always been built through community effort, vision, and collaboration. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has helped shape VFFC’s past and present, and to all those who will be part of building its future.
