Meet the crew: EMT Monte has been on the Rushford crew for 2 years. He has 7 years of previous EMT experience when he worked in Winona and Orlando, Florida. Outside of EMS he works on the river in Winona doing grain inspections. When asked what the best part of being in EMS is, Monte says: 'I love being in EMS... I would say the best part is being able to help people in their time of need. Sometimes being the worst day of their lives. I feel I have the demeanor to work through those situations. It's about connection with the people. My favorite part of the department is camaraderie and the commitment to the community. A lot of time and passion is put into this line if work. Only a certain personality type can do it. But it is well worth it!' Monte is a single dad to 3 kids; Henry 16, Easton 13 and Ms. Letti is 10. He said not to forget about the family cat, Luna. Monte says, 'The kids think being on the ambulance is pretty cool. Letti enjoys going to our training meetings. She likes watching what we do. I'm not sure if Luna really cares much. We'll just assume she does. I'm hoping to get into teaching EMT/CPR in the future. Also, I like to keep a sense of humor the best I can. It can help in a lot of situations.' Thank you for all your time and dedication Monte!
