Last Thursday, Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery hosted its sixth annual volunteer service project with the Edwardsville Children's Museum Micro Forest! Employees worked hard to w**d and clean up around the native trees to help maintain the forest. A group also helped with outdoor maintenance in the Museum's Discovery Garden.

Splash Into Summer with two free Family Swim Nights at the Roxana Swimming Pool on Tuesday, June 9, and Thursday, June 11, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Hosted by Wood River Refinery and the Roxana Park District, this fun community event is a great way for families to kick off summer together. Edwardsville-YMCA and Lewis and Clark Community College will have info tables on-site to share details about the Phillips 66 swim lesson scholarship.

This event is part of the Phillips 66 water safety initiative in communities where we operate, helping families access resources and build confidence around water safety.

Pre-registration is not required, and families are welcome until the pool reaches capacity.

Neighbors: Please be aware of increased traffic on 143 with vehicles entering and exiting the marked construction gate east of the Phillips 66 gas station in Wood River. Additional workers will be present now through mid-April for the Spring Turnaround. We appreciate your patience and awareness during shift changes.

It is Spring Turnaround time at the Wood River Refinery. If you live in one of our neighboring communities, you will likely see an increase in activity and vehicle traffic, particularly along Madison Avenue during shift changes. We want to remind everyone about our Community Concern line. If you see, hear or smell anything that seems out of the ordinary, please do not hesitate to call 618-255-3375. This number is staffed 24 hours-a-day. Thank you for your patience and awareness during this busy time!

Early this morning, as a result of the extreme cold weather, the refinery had a minor issue with a piping system that resulted in a small leak. This system has been successfully contained and repaired, but during the issue we did detect some smell of gas in the area around the refinery. We do understand we still have some residual odors in the area. Our monitoring results indicate that there are no detectable levels of gas that could pose a risk to our neighbors.

We understand your concerns and want to assure you that there is no danger. The refinery team has ongoing monitoring in the community during this period. However, we do apologize as it may take some time for the odor to dissipate completely throughout the day.

The extreme temperatures and weather conditions can be a challenge. Much effort is put into place to ensure the operations can handle these conditions and we appreciate our dedicated employees that are working within these conditions to ensure safe and stable operations. The safety of the community, the environment and our people are of the utmost importance to our company, and these priorities will guide our efforts.

Around 10:15 PM, a piece of operating equipment at the refinery tripped. As per design in these situations, the unit depressurized through the flaring system, which is a safety device. The flare is what is visible to the community. The situation is under control and being led by our operations team. We do not have an active Emergency Response and the Refinery operations are stable.
