🚛 PAID PARKING: THE NEWEST HUSTLE BLEEDING DRIVERS DRY

Let’s stop pretending paid truck parking is some “service.”
It’s a cash grab, plain and simple — another clever way for the industry to reach into the driver’s pocket without offering a damn thing in return.

Paid parking has exploded across the country.
Everywhere you look:

Truck stops carving out “paid zones” like VIP seating

Rest areas limiting spaces and “outsourcing” parking to private lots

Gas stations charging drivers just to EXIST on their property

Shopping centers banning truck parking entirely unless you cough up cash

And the worst part?
They’re selling a necessity as if it’s a luxury.

Truck drivers aren’t asking for spa treatment.
They’re not asking for champagne and a pillow mint.
They’re asking for a safe spot to sleep so they don’t die behind the wheel the next morning.

But the industry has figured out the one weapon that guarantees profit:

Drivers have no choice.

Federal rules tell drivers exactly when they must shut down.
No wiggle room. No exceptions.
When your clock hits zero, you STOP.

And the moment they forced that?
The parking sharks smelled blood.

They know drivers can’t roam around looking for free parking—they’ll get violations.
They know drivers can’t push another hour—they’ll get put out of service.
They know drivers are exhausted, running on fumes, and desperate for anywhere safe to park.

So they slap a price tag on desperation.

And here’s the part that’ll make any old-school driver’s blood boil:

Drivers move the freight that keeps these very businesses alive…
and those same businesses turn around and charge them to sleep in the vehicle that delivered their product.

Imagine UPS drivers paying to park at the UPS building.
Imagine firefighters paying to park at the fire station.
Imagine police officers having to swipe a card to park their cruiser at the precinct.

There would be riots.

But truck drivers?
The backbone of America?
They get told:

“Pay up or get out.”

No safety.
No lighting.
No security.
No respect.
Just payment required.

**This isn’t parking.

This is exploitation.**

Until the industry treats parking like the critical infrastructure it is — not a side hustle — nothing improves.

Free, safe parking isn’t a “perk.”
It’s not a “driver benefit.”
It’s a minimum requirement for a job that runs 24/7 and holds the entire country together.

Truck drivers shouldn’t be charged to rest.
They shouldn’t be charged to comply with federal law.
They shouldn’t be charged to keep themselves and everyone else alive.

Paid parking isn’t a service.
It’s a scam — and drivers know it.
