A 15-Minute Inspection Can Save You Hours

A proper pre-trip inspection takes only about 15 minutes but it can help prevent delays, violations, and expensive repairs.

Before you hit the road, make sure you check:
• Tires - look for proper pressure, uneven wear, cuts, or objects stuck in the tread.
• Lights - confirm that headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and marker lights are all working properly.
• Brakes & Air System - listen for air leaks, check brake components, and make sure air pressure builds correctly.
• Fluids - inspect engine oil, coolant, windshield washer fluid, and look for any leaks underneath the truck.
• Coupling Devices - verify that the fifth wheel, locking jaws, airlines, and electrical connections are secure.
• Trailer - check doors, landing gear, mud flaps, reflectors, and make sure the cargo is properly secured.

And please remember: skipping a pre-trip inspection might save a few minutes now but it could cost you hours waiting for roadside assistance later.
