Quick notice: we’ve had a few mention drones flying around their home. I thought it might be important to discuss this.

A small, local airport cannot see any air traffic. We cannot tell if a drone is flying near you.

A small, local airport is designed to provide services for aircraft when they land only. We do not direct traffic or even track aircraft in the vacinity.

If you suspect a crime, we’d suggest calling the local police department.

Hi Richmond County friends and family. I’ve had a few ask about the planes the past few nights. Most planned activities are day-time or end around 10pm. When you hear military exercises late at night, these normally are not planned with us to coordinate.

I realize the noise can be a nuisance to some, but the military’s objective is to remain combat ready in multiple locations and scenarios. This means practice at day and night. This is why they do this all over the country at various airports.

And yes, I have been awoken the past few nights as well.

My prayer recently has been: “Lord, let this momentary irritation be a deterrent to what is happening now in Ukraine”.

Things for Saturday and Sunday:

NOTE: Balloons launch when the wind drops to around 4mph or less. That is expected to happen around 7pm tonight. Still lots to do, food to eat, fun to be had before.

1) There will be three balloons offering rides plus the fun character balloons.

2) Bounce houses $10 bounce all night - tickets at blue tent. ATV train $5 per person.

3) Food for tonight: Greek food. Burger & hot dog vendor. Funnel cake / carnival food vendor. Kona ice. BBQ truck.

4) Premium parking can only be purchased on the website as only a limited number of spaces available each day.

5) Finally, remember, as advertised, entrance closes at 7:30pm to protect walking traffic, workers and kids as the sun goes down.

Few housekeeping items for Saturday’s Balloon Festival:
1. Don’t forget to Bring a lawn chair.
2. Remember, as advertised, the gates close at 7:30pm for the safety of folks walking back and forth. Arrive before 7:30pm… However, We’re open until all rides are finished.
3. Several have asked about food vendors. We have several more here on Saturday that could not make it Friday.
4. More balloons going up Saturday as well!
