✨ For my travelers heading to Mexico ✨

With all the headlines circulating, I wanted to share a clear, calm update for anyone with upcoming trips.

I’ve been monitoring the situation closely through official advisories, in-destination partners, and travel-industry channels. If I am alerted to anything that directly affects the travelers I’m working with, I would reach out as needed.

The recent unrest being reported is within the state of Jalisco, with activity centered primarily around Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

This area is very far from Mexico’s Caribbean destinations — roughly 1,500 miles away.

At this time, travel to the Mexican Caribbean resort regions continues as usual.

As always, general travel awareness and staying within established tourist areas is recommended no matter where you go.

A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for Jamaica as Melissa continues its approach. The Ministry of Tourism is assuring all tourism workers, visitors and tourism partners that comprehensive safety and preparedness measures are in place across the island.

The 24-hour Tourism Emergency Operations Centre (TEOC) remains fully activated to coordinate support efforts and ensure the continued protection of everyone within the tourism sector.

Shelter spaces have also been identified for visitors, if required, in key areas including the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James and the James Hunter Event Centre at the Boardwalk Shopping Village in Negril.

Don’t let this common mistake ruin your vacation! Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least SIX MONTHS beyond your travel dates.
Always check the passport validity requirements for your destination at travel.state.gov/destination to avoid getting turned around at the airport.
