This afternoon, a "house call" was made to offer consulting services to one of our members to bring the layout to nthe next steps. A benefit of being a member of the NMRA - National Model Railroad Association and in turn the Lakeshores Division, means you don't have to be an expert in everything to build a railroad. We have very knowledable members across many aspects of the hobby, so if there's something you're not sure of, or particularly good at, or like to do, chances are there's someone in the division willing to help you out. Today's case involved discussing upgrading the DCC system from an NCE Power Cab to a Power Pro 5 amp system, creating four power districts for three distinct operating areas of the layout and another for an accessory bus, determining the best location for the system under the layout, and determining how many accessory decoders will be necessary for the stall motor switch machines. A shopping list was created for the equipment and necessary supporting materials and return visit will be made whe they are received.
