Got a logistical challenge big enough to make your head spin? We’re here to help. Recently Bohren’s handled the collections for an exhibition at a large Museum in NYC. This complex project involved a large number of collections at JFK of artwork coming in from overseas. 3 trailer loads in fact, plus 20 stops nationwide filling 4 additional trailers! We delivered all of this artwork to the Museum over a period of a few weeks. Then, we returned with 7 trailers to collect and store all of the empty crates – 245 to be exact – for the duration of the show! When it’s BIG, call Bohren’s. Meet Chris Dugan! From working on our trucks when he was 18 to years old, to stepping into project management and sales, Chris’ passion for sustainability and reuse has always been a huge asset to Bohren’s. Throughout his 20-year tenure with the company he has been an advocate for Mother Earth. He is always looking for ways to repurpose, reuse and recycle. Chris works diligently everyday with our partners at IRN: The Reuse Network to do just that. “I think it's important to do our part to be sustainable and improve the future of this planet. At Bohren’s, we strive to work in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way. For example, by prioritizing sustainability with equipment like our reusable plastic moving crates rather than corrugated cardboard, Bohren’s saves 1,000 trees per year. That’s over 25,000 trees since 2020 – from just this one initiative! 25,000 trees can sequester roughly 15,400 metric tons of carbon dioxide over their lifetime reducing climate change.

If it’s BIG, call Bohren’s… 😲👏
Bohren’s was recently involved in decommissioning an academic/scientific laboratory space. The space was about 100,000 square feet of mixed-use lab and office space over 5 floors, with approximately 40 laboratory spaces. Our goal is to always ensure that laboratory materials are diverted from landfills and handled responsibly. Our team worked diligently to identify valuable items for donation, metal fixtures for eco-conscious recycling, and arranged specialized e-recycling for technical equipment. We are proud to report that we managed to keep 95% of the material out of landfills. A big win for Mother Earth!

If it’s BIG, call Bohren’s…
Last month we moved this three-ton rock for the New Jersey State Museum that contains a large dinosaur track! It is about 200 million years old and dates from the Triassic Period. It was excavated on a construction site in Passaic County, NJ and brought to the museum in 2010. The 3-toed print on this rock, as well as other clues, indicate this was likely the track of a young Eubrontes that roamed during the Age of Dinosaurs! When it’s BIG, call Bohren’s. As a fourth-generation member of the family, Denise Froehlich Hewitt spent much of her childhood in the office and warehouse here at Bohren’s. From cleaning the cabs of trucks, to folding moving blankets and answering phones, Denise has worked in virtually every department in the company. She officially joined the company in 1985 and was made President in 2002. During that time, she started and grew Bohren’s Fine Art Transportation and Storage. In a business that is predominantly male, Denise was an outlier when she took the reins and led the charge to have the company certified as a woman-owned business by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council in 2003.

Denise juggles a lot and loves the challenges! No day is ever the same – keeping the days interesting and exciting. When a customer’s project seems impossible, she loves to figure out how to get it done – inspiring others in the company with her “we can solve it” attitude.
