A clean home is good, and a tidy home can be helpful.

Taking care of your surroundings is part of responsible stewardship. But your spiritual worth cannot be measured by your baseboards.

This distinction matters because homemaking can quietly become a performance.

You start believing that a clean house means you're doing well, while a messy house means you've failed. A beautiful home means you're a good homemaker, but a chaotic one means something is wrong with you.

But the gospel gives you a much firmer foundation for your identity. Your standing before God is not earned through a perfectly maintained home.

You don't become more loved because the kitchen is spotless. And you don't become less valuable because today got away from you.

That doesn't mean the work doesn't matter. It means the work has to stay in its proper place.

Clean because cleanliness serves your household. Organize because order helps you steward your responsibilities. Decorate because beauty can be enjoyed. Serve because love seeks the good of others.

But don't use homemaking to prove your worth.

When the floors are dirty, you are still God's image-bearer. When the laundry is unfinished, you are still valuable. When your home is beautiful, you still don't need to boast.

Faithfulness is the goal.
