Sometimes working hard means taking the time to check in. The best part of this job is connecting with the community. No matter what, the people are the reason we exist.

โค๏ธ๐Ÿš Because Every Mile Matters.

At WRTA, public transportation has never just been about buses, routes, or schedules.

It is about people.

The worker getting to a job. The senior maintaining independence. The student getting to class. The parent making it across town. The neighbor staying connected.

Every ride carries a story, and we take our role in those stories seriously.

That is why, beginning June 1, WRTA is proud to offer a Fare Free Summer.

It is one small way to give back to the community that continues to believe in public transportation and the people it serves.

Thank you for riding with us, supporting us, and helping WRTA become what it is today.

๐Ÿš People Driven. Every Mile.

Fremont County, Wyoming: The Wind River Transportation Authority (WRTA) is pleased to announce the launch of its Fare Free Summer, beginning June 1, 2026. During this period, WRTA will not collect fares for non-contracted public transportation services. This initiative is being offered in recognitio...

๐Ÿ“ข YES, WRTA Tracks Ridership Data ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ“Š

We recently received a question about whether WRTA tracks ridership by community, time of day, and service area.

The answer is simple: yes, we do. โœ…

WRTA tracks and reports ridership, service utilization, and operational data as part of our ongoing compliance with state and federal transportation requirements. That data helps ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible use of public funds.

And just as importantly, the public is ENTITLED to that information. If members of the public would like to see ridership data, service trends, or community-level transportation information, WRTA is happy to help provide that information through the appropriate public records process.

We also recognize that we could do more to share these statistics in a way that is easy to understand and useful to the community. If there is public interest, WRTA would certainly be open to featuring more regular ridership updates through our marketing and public outreach, such as monthly service snapshots, community ridership highlights, or year-over-year trends. ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Public transportation works best when the community understands how it is being used, who it is serving, and how local support helps bring additional transportation dollars into Fremont County.

WRTA remains committed to transparency, accountability, and showing the real value public transportation brings to the people, employers, and communities we serve.

Our community partners at Trenches Collective - Lander are gathering feedback to better understand transportation barriers and mobility needs throughout Fremont County. If you have a couple minutes, we encourage you to participate and help contribute valuable community insight.

We are incredibly thankful to see such kind recognition from the Riverton Rotary.

Our drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and staff work hard every day to keep Fremont County connected, and it means a great deal to see that effort recognized by such a positive and community-minded group.

WRTA is proud to serve this community, and we are equally proud to have strong community partners like Rotary helping lift up the people who keep Fremont County moving.

Thank you, Riverton Rotary, for the kind words and continued support!

You may know WRTA by the big buses running all over the county. But they actually run more, including mini-buses, big vans and little vans, as they carry children to daycare, Riverton seniors to doctor appointments, employees to the job site... you get the picture. If you see them on the road, send the a big wave of thanks for keeping our communities moving forward. THANKS WRTA DRIVERS!!
