Sculpting an Animal - Katie Maloney
$200 Per Person / Ages 16 and up
Thursday, Jan 7, 2027 / 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Katie Maloney

In this one day hands-on workshop, learn how to sculpt animals! We’ll focus on the hollowing method of molding a solid form then cutting open to hollow, allowing the artist to achieve more complex animal forms. Instruction will also include additive sculpting, carving, and texturing methods, with a focus on creating facial details and emotive qualities. We’ll cover important steps such as drying time, glazing ideas, and firing methods. Katie will work individually with each student to help bring their vision into form, creating an instructive space for beginners and advanced ceramicists alike. Bring images of your favorite animals!

Altar Making

$50 Per Person

Build a sculptural altar as a home for your treasured keepsakes.

In this 2-hour handbuilding workshop, we’ll use slabs and coils to create one-of-a-kind altars that can either be free-standing or hung on walls. These make a beautiful display for small, precious objects. Customize yours through surface decoration as well as by bringing personal items for your altar to hold!
