Any one needing a ride from Richmond to Lexington Monday thru Friday for a first shift job, or just wanting to avoid the drive, or save the gas money and wear and tear on their vehicle might want to consider riding the bus.
The Richmond-Lexington commuter bus leaves the Meijer parking lot in richmond at six thirty every weekday morning, and drops off at several places in klexington, including one stop downtown about a block from the Transit center at seven AM. The Pickups are in reverse order and the last one is currently at five P.M. at the downtown site.
The cost is a flat fee of fifty dollars a month, payable at the first of each month, and can be renewed or stopped any time. This works out to somewhat less than two dollars a day, which is considerably less than the gas alone.
This is an actual bus, one of the Foothills buses (picture below) and not a van or carpool: there are no driving duties, no other fees or requirements. just show up and ride.
Stops currently include the Downtown location, two stops at teh downtown VA hospital, a stop at the UK campus, and a proposed stop out at the Leestown VA hospital.
I myself have been riding for years, and find it convenient, comfortable and reliable. I work out at the edge of town and catch the Lextran bus to my destination from the Dowmtown stop and am never late to my eight o'clock job.
