MCH History

MCH Transportation, as it is today, has been in business for 29 years. When talking to someone about MCH, perhaps one of the first questions they always ask is what does the letters MCH stand for? Well, in 1912, two brothers, Judson McCarty Holman and William Henry Holman founded a grocery store chain here in Mississippi called Jitney Jungle. During their 80 years in existence, the gr

ocery store chain grew to over 100 stores throughout MS, LA, and FL. In 1986, they decided to get out of long distance trucking, and our owner, Mr. When the brothers applied for their original operating authority to run grocery trucks in the early 1900’s, instead of calling it “Jitney Jungle Trucking”, they instead used the initials of the oldest brothers middle and last name……….Judson McCarty Holman (MC for the McCarty and (H for the Holman). Hence, MCH Transportation! As you may know, we really don’t run groceries anymore and all those Jitney Jungle stores are long gone, but since the name had been around for over 75 years before we obtained their operating authority in 1986, and felt there was no need to change the name!

MCH Transportation participated in the 2026 Truck Driving Championship hosted by Mississippi Department of Transportation this past weekend in Gulfport, MS. We were able to have 4 of our drivers and our Recruiter/Safety Director Assistant: Alvin Smith, Rufus Morris, Douglas Washington, Ray Givens, and CB McDonald (left to right), present for the competition. Our drivers, also, had their families present for support.
