The Department of the Interior has announced 1,450 new hunting and fishing opportunities and opened more than 2.3 million acres of public land access for America’s hunters and anglers through its new “open unless closed” doctrine.

For years sportsmen have watched public access slowly disappear under growing regulations and pressure from preservation groups that treat hunting and fishing like outdated activities instead of the backbone of modern conservation. This policy marks a major shift by recognizing that public lands should remain open to traditional use unless there is a clear reason to restrict access.

Hunters and anglers helped build the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation and continue funding wildlife management through licenses, excise taxes, and habitat restoration programs. Expanding access is one of the most important things we can do to keep hunting and fishing alive for future generations, especially as private land access becomes harder and harder for average Americans to afford.

Thank you to Secretary Doug Burgum and the Department of the Interior for standing up for public access and recognizing the role sportsmen play in conserving America’s wildlife and wild places.

As you enjoy your three day weekend, please take a moment to remember all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and served our country that are no longer with us. We have our freedoms because of them. Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend.

Minnesota legislators reached an agreement Friday on a $191 million Legacy funding bill that many State Capitol operatives just 24 hours earlier thought was dead for 2026.

🚨ACTION ALERT 🚨
Our Meat Raffle Modernization Act (HF4090 / SF4515) — a simple, bipartisan effort to update outdated limits and strengthen charitable fundraising — is being held hostage at the State Capitol.

Some legislators are tying action on this bill to negotiations over a separate issue: the sweepstakes ban bill.

We support BOTH bills. But charities across Minnesota should not have to wait because of unrelated political negotiations.

The Meat Raffle Modernization Act is ready. It’s common sense. And it directly impacts the ability of local charities, nonprofits, veterans groups, and community organizations to raise money for the causes they serve.

Call your legislators today and tell them: Pass the Meat Raffle Modernization Act now.

At last week’s meeting the RASC awarded our 2026 Legacy Award to the family of Andy Faith.

Andy was a member that rarely missed a meeting or club event. He was the trustee of our scholarship fund since 2005. The Faith family recently made a generous donation to the RASC to help insure that our scholarship fund and land activities will continue well into the future.

Andy passed away on April 26th, 2025. His dedication and service to the RASC will long be remembered.
