Let's bring more bicycle pedestrian infrastructure to southwest Georgia!

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is nearing completion of a RURAL STATEWIDE ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN (ATP) designed to improve walking, biking, and other micromobility options—such as scooters and e-bikes—in Georgia’s small towns and rural communities. This plan will guide future investments and policy decisions to enhance safety, connectivity, comfort, mobility, and access for people using active transportation across rural areas of the state. Pursuing the vision of "safe and well-connected walking and biking routes for all Georgians" and working to strengthen local economies and enhance community well-being, the Rural ATP is centered around six key goals: Safety, Connectivity, Economic Vitality, Public Health, Mobility, and Transportation for All.

The project team has conducted extensive data collection and analysis to establish a baseline of existing conditions and identify opportunities for improvement. GDOT is now seeking final public review and input on the draft plan.

We had a great Taylor Ramblers Group Walk on Friday, enjoying some healthy steps together while building community. Then we took in First Friday activities on the courthouse square (like vintage cars) before cheering the Vikings on to victory!

Join us for a Taylor Ramblers Group Walk on Friday, August 7, meeting by 6pm at the Tag Office on the Taylor County Courthouse Square in Butler. We'll walk east along Main Street 0.7 mile and then return to enjoy First Friday events before cheering the Vikings on to victory at the football game!

We had a great time at last night's Taylor County Night Out in City of Reynolds! Children competed in foot races, winning great prizes, and also stopped by our table to learn about safe walking and biking. These students are now ready to walk into the new school year! Thanks to everyone who helped to organize and support the event.

Come join the fun at Taylor County Night Out on Thursday, July 23, from 6-8 pm at Liberty Park in City of Reynolds. The Taylor Ramblers will have games and giveaways at our table, as well as:
* 7:00 pm Foot Races with prizes
* 7:30 pm Group Walk

We had a great 250th Anniversary Celebration of the US Declaration of Independence, including a Walk with Taylor County Officials around the Courthouse Square, which reenacted a bicentennial Taylor County parade from 1976. We hope you'll join us for our next group walk!

Friday, June 26, 6PM: Group Walk with Elected Officials! Join us on the Butler Courthouse lawn for a community walk around the courthouse sidewalks. Wear your favorite red, white, and blue, wave an American flag, and help us create memories that future generations will look back on—just as we're looking back at the photos from 1976 today. Then settle in to enjoy the great live music and fun community celebration of the Road to Main event hosted by our friends at the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce.

Fifty years ago, Taylor County came together to celebrate America's Bicentennial.

This Friday, we come together once again. ❤️🤍💙

Join the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Butler Georgia as we kick off Taylor County's America 250 Celebration during Road to Music on Main: Red, White & Blue Edition.

We'll gather on the Butler Courthouse lawn before joining the Taylor Ramblers for a community walk around the courthouse sidewalks. Wear your favorite red, white, and blue, wave an American flag, and help us create memories that future generations will look back on—just as we're looking back at the photos from 1976 today.

After the walk, the celebration continues with Road to Main, featuring live music, community, and a summer evening worth remembering.

We are RESCHEDULING the Group Walk with Elected Officials to FRIDAY, June 26, in City of Butler Georgia on the Taylor County Courthouse Square!

To kick off the Road to Music on Main, Taylor County elected officials will lead us in a group walk around the Taylor County Courthouse. Meet near the stage at 6 pm, and join us for a short group walk (twice around the courthouse square) celebrating community and healthy physical activity. Then settle in to enjoy Music on Main!
