When to Put on Chains:
Tire chains are a must during hazardous weather conditions.
Stop and secure chains when highway signs mandate their use.
Non-compliance may result in citations and fines, so stay alert!
Proper Installation Steps:
Drape chains over the tire with at least ½ on each side.
Ensure hooks face away from the tire.
Connect chains to the same link inside and outside of the tire.
Tighten with the turning tool, allowing rotation.
Move the truck to set chains and recheck tightness.
Position eyelet smoothly against the tire.
Maintain a gap of no more than nine inches between cross members.
Keep fastener adjustments equal on both sides.
⚠️ Caution:
Avoid chain tightening devices, as they can offset the chains. For maximum chain life, ensure gradual rotation around the tire and follow speed limitations. Do not exceed 30 mph, avoid prolonged use on bare pavement, and refrain from tire spinning or brake locking.
