Our high school aviation class took an awesome trip to Gary/Chicago International Airport this week!

In addition to touring and learning more about the Airport's two FBOs, Gary Jet Center and B. Coleman Aviation, students were familiarized with the Airport's fire trucks and equipment. They even tested out the water turrets themselves!

We're always thankful for an opportunity to visit a new airport and learn about their facilities, operations, and staff. Thanks Gary Chicago International Airport for organizing such a fun, insightful day!

Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is now open for applications!

This internship program is designed to give students exposure to airport management, operations, safety, maintenance, and the airport’s regulatory organizational structure. The goal is to allow students the opportunity to explore areas in which to specialize post-graduation.

Interns must be 16 years old or greater and currently enrolled in or recently graduated from high school or home school in Jasper County.

Construction has begun on our new 8-unit T-hangar!

A majority of the funding for this project was made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). We are excited to move forward and welcome new pilots to our community.

This fall has brought lots of new experiences for our high school aviation class! 🛫

Students had the opportunity to tour a corporate jet and learn a bit about corporate pilot careers. On another day, they lined up and watched a T-6 perform a runup and takeoff. After learning about preventive maintenance tasks, they assisted in an oil change on a Cessna 172! That's the most valuable part about this program - students acquire experiences like these every day, right here at the airport.

We finished off October with an amazing field trip to Grissom Air Museum where our class explored their static displays, sat in the cockpits of an F4 and a Huey, and learned about the history of Grissom Air Force Base!

We’re excited to see what the rest of the year has in store for our future aviators.
