Troop 384

Troop 384 We are a small ethnically diverse Scout Troop. We teach the values of Scouting and allow the boys to learn and grow in a safe yet fun envioronment!

We had a successful camp out! Yes it was cold. Yes, we had a very small turn out. And, Yes, we stayed in a very nice and warm cabin! Life and Scouting are both filled with surprises...both good and bad. We teach a Scout to be Prepared...so, we were prepared to have a very cold camp, then we adapted to the cabin which was available to us! That is an important lesson to teach...being adaptable...to the good and the bad!

It was an AWESOME meeting tonight!! We had a 3 Adult to 1 Scout ratio...we got to plan out this weekends backpacking camp out...so far, its 3 Adults (sort of) and 1 Scout (for sure), with possibly another Scout and Adult (or two) attending as well...a lot of uncertainty's, but for sure, it IS happening this weekend...A Scout is Prepared!

Happy New Year!! The Troop DID recharter!! So, Monday, January 14th will be our first meeting of the year!! But wait!!!! It gets even BETTER! We are going BACKPACKING next weekend!!! It will be a short but sweet (Saturday and Sunday...probably)...we will fine tune the details at Mondays meeting! If you are going, but can't make the meeting, please message me or Theron! Looking forward to seeing you all Monday!

Well, Camporall was a wash! Yep! We came home early due to weather...BUT...just maybe, the Scouts learned a lesson on WHY we use ground cloth's UNDER our tents!
Monday is a regular meeting! We need to plan Novembers trip to Wichita Mountain, Ok! It is a family Camp, and all are welcome! We also need to decide which Troop(s) we want to visit and when!
Also, we have another Eagle Board! Matthew will need two Committee Members to sit on the Board that evening...so, if you are available, please attend!!

Last Monday, our Troop visited another Troop... 3 Adults and 2 Scouts visited. There was no meeting tonight. Next Monday, October 8th, is the only time we can plan for Camporall, which is Friday, October 13th- Sunday October 15th, at Worth Ranch. I would really hope that any Scouts and their PARENTS, that plan to continue in Scouting attend Camporall!! It is the BEST opportunity to visit other Troops in our area, and to actually SEE them camping! Meet their Leaders and Scouts, and decide which type of Troop you are interested in being a part of!!
Participation at this event, as in Scouting is a choice. If there is no interest in this event, please let us know.

Tomorrow night...Monday, September 10th at 7:30pm at Retta Baptist Church will be our Court of Honor. Rank Advancements and Merit Badges will be awarded and our Scouts achievements recognized!
This will, sadly, probably be our Troops last COH. Due to lower numbers of Scouts and Adult participants, the Troop decided, at their last planning meeting, NOT to recharter this year.
We anticipate one or two Eagle Ceremonies before the end of this year also!
