SRPRA was in the room on March 26 at the Construction Alliance of Pennsylvania event, alongside industry leaders from across the region discussing the future of construction in Pennsylvania.

Montgomery County Commissioner Tom DiBello, Berks County Commissioner Christian Y. Leinbach , and SRPRA Executive Director Thomas Frawley were in attendance as conversations centered on workforce, collaboration, and what’s next for the industry.

That future includes the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail project.

There is no doubt that the return of passenger rail will be an economic catalyst for communities along the line. Beyond the rail itself, SRPRA represents a broader wave of opportunity—spurring development, supporting jobs, and driving long-term investment across the corridor, well beyond Reading, Pottstown, and Phoenixville.

📢 If you have a business anticipating the return of passenger rail, we’d love to talk to you… Contact us at [email protected].

This initiative isn’t only about reconnecting Philadelphia and Reading. It’s about restoring reliable passenger rail service to communities throughout the Schuylkill River Corridor, providing residents a dependable alternative to driving and strengthening the historic rail connection that once linked the region’s towns and cities.

Similar to nearby Pottstown, Phoenixville Borough’s historic Reading Company passenger station stands today as a testament to the rail era that once connected communities across southeastern Pennsylvania.

While this historic station will not serve as the official stop on the proposed restored passenger line between Philadelphia and Reading, Phoenixville is still expected to have a station as part of the plan, bringing passenger rail back to the borough for the first time since service ended in 1981.

For a community shaped by industry, innovation, and railroads, the return of passenger service would mark a new chapter built on a proud transportation legacy.
