It's a sad day for aviation. Hal Shevers was more than just the founder of Sporty’s Pilot Shop, he was a force of aviation! There are plenty of pilots our there that owe their start to the efforts of Captain Shevers.

Happy to introduce Ava to the Portage County Regional Airport community!

Ava completed her flight training at Kent State University and was inspired to pursue aviation by her uncle, a captain at United Airlines.

She loves how flying helps clear her mind and is passionate about becoming a CFI so she can make the same impact on her students that her instructors had on her.

Her advice to students: 𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 - 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨.

Outside of flying, Ava enjoys cooking, going for walks, and spending time with family. Her long-term goal is to become a chief flight instructor and help shape the next generation of pilots.

Winter Storm Fern was no match for the skills of Airport Dan! Airport Professionals sing drinking songs about the heroics of Airport Dan and his snow plowing expertise. 10+ inches of snow was quickly reduced to 1/8 inch dry snow and only covering 50% of the runway.
