Job Summary
As a GSE Mechanic at Swissport SEA you will integrate into the GSE Maintenance Team responsible for efficient and cost effective repairs and maintenance of a diverse fleet of company and customer owned vehicles and airport ground support equipment (GSE) while maintaining the highest standards to meet daily operational demands and compliance with Swissport International mandated fleet management policies and local, state and federal regulatory guidelines and governing laws.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate and drive all types of equipment motorized and non-motorized
- Perform routine preventive maintenance of vehicles and ground support equipment as per established standards and schedules
- Troubleshoot, and make repairs to diesel and gas engines and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using necessary technical manuals, schematics.
- Utilize diagnostic software to troubleshoot Powertrain Management Systems.
- Respond to requests for on-call maintenance after hours on all ground support equipment if GSE Manager deems necessary
- Pick up parts and materials required for maintenance and repairs.
- Timely and accurately complete work orders and other documentation accurately to maintain the highest quality standards for documentation.
- Complete other documentation consistent with company, carrier, station, airport authority, municipal, state, and federal requirements.
- Comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier security requirements
- Follow all environmental and safety guidelines set out by EPA, OSHA, and Swissport management and communicate safety concerns and customer requests for service to management.
- Keep the shop clean and orderly and shop equipment serviceable at all times, report any and all deficiencies to management
- Fuel equipment as necessary with full regard for all safety and environmental requirements.
- Liaise with Ramp management, customers and staff in a professional manner when needed
- Retain a motor vehicle driver's license for both air side / non airside in good standing at all times
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and demonstrated proficiency of repair and maintenance methods.
- At least 5-year related experience required, i.e. Automotive Technician, Medium/Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or GSE Mechanic
- ASE Certification, trade school, or related technical training certificate(s)/credentials is preferred
- Must own a complete set of mechanic's basic hand tools Knowledge of computer maintenance programs, and Microsoft Office applications
- Must have a Valid driver's license Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport issued ID badge and airside driving permit
- Good oral and verbal communication skills
- Willing to travel as required for training or to assist other Swissport stations with needs
