We’re so excited to announce that Kylie Odetta will be leading worship at Campfire in August! 🎶🤍

Kylie is a Christian artist and worship leader based in South Carolina. She brings so much joy and authenticity to her music. We can’t wait to have her with us!

You can learn more about her at https://www.kylieodetta.com/home, or listen to her music on Spotify.

We are so excited to gather with our alumni community in Stoneville, NC - we know God has wonderful things planned for us.

If you would like to learn more about the roles of women in the medieval era, and the changes that led to us hearing myths such as “women never led in the church,” check out Becoming the Pastor’s Wife by Beth Allison Barr

Don’t let the idea of reading about medieval women scare you. This book is incredibly well written, full of amazing stories, and aimed at people just like you and me who are wondering, “How in the world did we get here?!” The title tracks the changes from women independently leading monastic communities to being regulated to the artificial role of “pastor’s wife.” I can not recommend her work enough!

(A slightly belated Women of Influence Wednesday post 😊)

Yesterday, my Women of the Way pilgrimage group was in Kildare. Teaching about Brigid in Ireland is always a highlight of that trip!

Make sure to join our email list, linked in bio, to be the first to hear about our upcoming pilgrimage opportunities.

To learn more about Brigid and to reflect on her through art, check out the Brigid collection at Visual Museum of Women in Christianity. You can see representations of Brigid through sculpture, iconography, and paintings, and learn more about her amazing life.

Join us next Wednesday to meet a host of Irish women who carried on Brigid’s legacy!

People often ask me for packing tips. I have learned over the years that a few intentional choices make a HUGE difference while on the road.

Here are a few of my favorite tips:
- Packing cubes keep everything organized and maximize space.
- Light layers help you adjust throughout the day and maximize your looks.
- Invest in good walking shoes - hurting feet ruin trips!
- Carry a locking crossbody bag to keep your belongings close and deter pickpockets in busy areas.

Before each journey, we walk through these tips together during our pre-pilgrimage meetings so you feel prepared and confident. I’m looking forward to putting them into practice as I start packing for Ireland soon!

What tips would you add to this list?

I stepped into this 3rd-century church thinking I’d just take a quick look around, and ended up sitting there while a choir rehearsal was going on.

Completely unplanned—just happened to walk in at the right moment.

A quiet reminder from God that there’s so much beauty we miss when we’re rushing—so many moments like this just waiting if we’re willing to slow down and appreciate them.

One of our core pilgrimage practices is journaling. Our journals are a place to copy scripture, record prayers (and answers!), and pay attention to the ways God is present throughout the journey.

When we travel, our days are full of new places, conversations, meals, and unexpected moments. Writing things down helps preserve the details we might otherwise forget—the little café I loved, the view that made me stop and take a breath, or the conversation I don’t want to forget.

Years later, pilgrimage journals become more than notes from a trip. They become a testimony of the places we’ve walked, the people we’ve met, and the ways God moved in this season of our lives.

The greatest souvenirs I have brought home from pilgrimage are the words I took the time to write down.

Sometimes the call is quiet. Just a gentle stirring in the heart that says God has something more for me.

For centuries, people of faith have felt that same pull—to step away from the noise of everyday life and walk somewhere sacred.

Pilgrimage is not about escape. It’s about drawing nearer ...
Nearer to God.
Nearer to the history of our faith.
Nearer to the person we were created to be.

Pilgrimage is calling.

One of the places we stay during the Women of the Way pilgrimage in Ireland is the beautiful Lake Hotel Killarney, tucked along the shores of Lough Lein and surrounded by the quiet beauty of the National Park.

It’s the kind of setting that invites you to slow down and breathe deeply. This family-owned hotel has been welcoming guests for generations, carrying a long tradition of warm Irish hospitality, evident in everything from its beautiful grounds and incredible food to the lively traditional music at night.

Intentional spaces like this shape our pilgrimage rhythms. Mornings offer time for personal prayer and journaling, conversations linger after dinner as new friendships are formed, and miles of trails offer opportunities for slow walks that leave the hustle, bustle, and burdens of everyday life far behind.

We can’t wait to be back at The Lake Hotel in a few weeks!
