New Kent County welcomes new Airport Manager, Russell Lee Peaden, C.M.

New Kent County is pleased to welcome Russell Lee Peaden, C.M., as the new Airport Manager for New Kent County Airport. Peaden steps into this role following an accomplished 25-year career at Richmond International Airport (RIC), where he recently retired as Director of Properties and Concessions.

Peaden brings a rare blend of hands-on leadership, strategic insight, and deep industry experience. During his tenure at RIC, he oversaw a broad portfolio of commercial operations such as airlines, rental car companies, food and retail concessions, federal and state agencies, cargo operators, and fixed-base aviation services. His work was rooted in collaboration and problem-solving, guiding teams of employees, consultants, and service providers through complex operational and business challenges.

“New Kent County looks forward to the leadership and energy Russ will bring to the airport,” said County Administrator Rodney Hathaway. “His proven track record, combined with his passion for aviation and service, positions him to guide the airport into its next phase of development, strengthening its role as a vital asset to the region.”

The "Teutonic Twister" & First Aerobatic Helicopter
The Bo 105 was the world’s first light helicopter capable of performing full aerobatic maneuvers, including loops, rolls, and inverted flight. Before the Bo 105, doing such stunts in a helicopter was considered impossible, as it would usually lead to "mast bumping" (where rotor blades chop into the fuselage).
