BOATER SAFETY:
Starting January 2025, all operators of motorized boats and watercraft need a boating safety certificate. You can get more info at the New York State Parks & Recreation website, or by contacting us online at ENYMTA.com.
Before you leave the dock, make sure you have a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket for everyone onboard โ plus extra flotation devices, a fire extinguisher, and an emergency kit.
Familiarize yourself with the waterways youโre navigating, watch depths and traffic, and keep an eye on your surroundings to avoid accidents.
And as the driver, never jump off the back or leave your vessel, even when anchored โ currents and winds can change quickly.
Most importantly, please donโt operate any boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
INVASIVE SPECIES:
Weโre fortunate to have so many beautiful waterways here in the Adirondacks to enjoy this summer. To keep them healthy, please help us protect them from aquatic invasive species.
Invasive species can harm native plants and animals, disrupt water quality, and even increase costs for managing our waterways.
Preventing their spread is easy โ just remember to clean, drain, and dry before you launch your boat:
Clean off any visible mud, plants, or animals from your boat, trailer, and gear.
Drain all water from your boat, motor, bilge, live wells, and bait containers.
And dry everything completely before moving to a new location โ this helps stop species like zebra mussel larvae from spreading.
Thank you for doing your part to preserve our Adirondack waterways.
