Some anniversaries look like fancy reservations and perfect timing. Mine and Josh’s has always looked more like remembering with our hearts first and the calendar’s and minds second, 😬 which feels fitting for us. Our Niece Hanna usually knows before either of us remember and has become our unofficial keeper of important dates. 🙏 you for that. 😳 But after all these years, the date has never been what mattered most.
Marriage, for us, has been raising babies then now teenagers, tweens and a little WILD child all all at once, life is chaos. Then showing up for a blended family dynamic, building a business from scratch, and figuring out how to grow as individuals without losing each other in the process.
It has been early mornings and late nights, dirt and diesel, sports and school, popped tires (Oh man the popped tires 😳🤣🤣 Jason Ludd), equipment breakdowns, and real-life responsibilities that don’t pause for romance.
It has been learning, unlearning, apologizing A LOT, forgiving, laughing, and loving through versions of ourselves that neither of us could have predicted. Then laughing again at almost 3AM as Josh and I meet at the pantry, me for Carson’s Chicken Nugget dinner , and Josh for one of his midnight snacks 😂. And I remind him to remind me to ask Hanna if our anniversary is today, yesterday or tomorrow. Then give each other a high five (and we will give each other one again tomorrow just incase 😂) then help look for the Chocolate Donuts Josh was craving, but one of our kids either ate or have sitting in their room. 🤣
We’ve had soft seasons and hard ones. And we’ve learned that love isn’t just a feeling, it’s a choice. A choice to build, to work, to stay, to heal, to grow, and to keep choosing each other even when life is loud.
Phase One wouldn’t exist without that same partnership. The same loyalty. The same fire. The same teamwork that holds our family together is the reason we’re able to serve our customers, show up for our drivers, and keep growing as a family-owned business.
So Happy Anniversary to my husband. My calm, my steady, my business partner, my co-parent, and my favorite person to build a life with.
We may not always remember the date, but we always remember the story, and that’s worth celebrating today!
