Friends Of India Point Park

Friends Of India Point Park Friends of India Point Park's mission is to promote, improve, and defend India Point Park, and expand The second initiative is to bury the power lines.

Friends of India Point Park (FIPP) are concerned with maintaining India Point Park's natural beauty and the different ways that people utilize this wonderful piece of land. FIPP is dedicated to ensuring that the free-spirited nature of this park is maintained. There have been many improvements over the years that include the installation of the playground near Gano Street as well as the mosaic mur

al depicting maritime history of India Point, both projects designed by local artisits. FIPP also holds an annual Clean Up held the Saturday of Earth Day weekend in late April since 2000. We mulch trees, remove graffiti, paint benches & tables, and plant trees, bushes & flowers, all with the help of the Providence Parks Department and Groundwork Providence. Coffee, donuts, and sandwiches donated by area
restaurants. FIPP currently, as of 2013, has two main initiatives that require support from the local residents. The first is to expand waterfront public space at the Head of the Bay at the Shooters site, and re-establish the Seekonk River public boat ramp at East Transit & Gano Street. FIPP has led citizen campaign to bury high-voltage waterfront wires, supported by 35 city and state groups. With $17.5 million raised, about 90% of the funds have been raised. Please go to https://www.change.org/petitions/bury-the-waterfront-power-lines-in-providence-and-east-providence to sign the petition and help FIPP improve our wonderful park.
