The Wisconsin State Patrol is teaming up with the Wisconsin School Bus Association this week to educate motorists about the dangers of illegally passing school buses with their red lights flashing.

Passing a school bus illegally is extremely dangerous as it endangers the lives of students. Special patrols will take place throughout the state this week to remind drivers that they must stop at least 20 feet from a school bus with its red lights flashing.

A citation for failure to stop for a school bus now costs $676.50 and four demerit points. Read more about the campaign: https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/about-wisdot/newsroom/news-rel/092126-operation-safe-stop.aspx
