Great news today. America's Cup 2013 in San Francisco is Go!.

The City's Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to green-light the project. Racing right off the city-front between Golden Gate Bridge, with finishes at the triangular Piers 27/29, also home to the Race Village (see image). Team bases at Piers 30/32 by the Bay Bridge.

We reckon the Bay will be the best race course ever in the America's Cup contested by the fastest boats ever; and the action will be minutes from downtown and the Embarcadero.

It wasn’t an official evacuation, but boaters from all over streamed into the rubble and smoke of lower Manhattan anyway

A requirement to wear life jackets on several of King County's major rivers was passed by the Metropolitan King County Council 5-4 on Monday. Violators would get a warning the first time, but an $86 fine after.
