HAYDEN / COEUR D'ALENE / CANFIELD MOUNTAIN AT HIGH RISK OF WILD FIRES -- HOW TO PREVENT IT

All of us have seen what happened in Maui and now what's happening in Texas. As North Idaho locals lets all take this seriously -- SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO US THIS SUMMER.

Remember the "burn Spokane" arsonist last year as well as Medical Lake going up in flames and 185 homes being lost?

IMPORTANT -- Please encourage local officials to take this seriously. Enhanced patrols, more forest service agents and a number of other methods could be used to know who's coming and going into our forests.

Officials should post large warning signs about severe prison time and fines for arson including murder charges when homes are burned and people die in these fires.

ARE WE TIRED OF IT? Some of these major wildfires are being caused by arson. This has to stop. Last year was bad enough. Whoever's behind it could be planning for an even bigger year of fires this year.

Property owners should survey their properties and clean up common fuel sources for wildfires.

We also need more fire fighter crews -- imagine an arsonist setting a distant remote fire just to ensure we have no local fire crews to fight fires locally. We need local fire crews and we need to catch arsonists before they strike.

We don't want to lose the national forest in our backyard and the beautiful surroundings this area has been blessed with.

Preventive measures helps ensure we can enjoy our summer outdoors, not hiding from smoke when July / August hits and losing another summer to wildfires and or arson.

Next time it could be homes and neighborhoods. Look at Texas. Look at all the other places that have burned to the ground.
