Save Island Park Portsmouth RI - STOP The Contaminated Dirt Dumping

Save Island Park Portsmouth RI - STOP The Contaminated Dirt Dumping AP Enterprises is dumping contaminated soil into the land. People protested this. Town hall meeting were loud with upset. People stand and watch disgusted.

People film and photograph this monstrosity! The Island Park Dump site was an operational dump spot from the 50's to 1973. It sat for many years untouched. We played on rope swings and hopped over the abandoned cars there as kids. The land was deemed to be capped with clean fill a couple of years ago when there was talk of putting a children's park here. But because of the chemicals and garbage in

the soil, there will be no park. AP Enterprises who owns half of the land used for a garbage "dump" claimed that was too expensive to cap properly with clean fill dirt. Instead they are allowed to use dirty soil. It is thought that toxic soil is being dumped here every day. Look at some of the pictures. It is clear that there are different types of soils judging by soil color going into the ground here. Soil with petroleum, arsenic, lead amongst other toxins are already present and more is being brought in by the truck load. This piece of land is exactly in between the wetlands and Crab Pond and The front Island Park Beach on Park Ave. In many cases water flows between and will take all of the extra poisons into the already polluted water. When a hurricane comes through, the 40 ppm of arsenic will be in our back yards. Help save our homes. Don't let the wetlands be sold out to greedy AP Enterprises! Please Call:
