The school year is well underway and many students struggle. They miss skills and concepts they haven't had a chance to practice over the last eighteen months. Others have trouble with the pace of the curriculum that too often doesn't make any allowances for the difficult time of the pandemic.
I tutor students in grades 4 through grade 8, either from my home in SW Portland, or via Zoom online.
I teach via Zoom in a very similar way as I do in-person, re-explaining skills and concepts, and supporting homework.
My website is: christinesmathtutoring.com
I'll answer your questions via phone, then schedule a free first lesson to make sure we're all a good match.

I'm tutoring math for 4th through 8th grade students now via Zoom lessons. My focus is on supporting students with their home and classwork if they're close to meeting class expectations, or designing lessons to get them there. Check out my website. I'm keeping my approach as close as possible to face-to-face meetings when teaching online.

Due to covid19, I'm in the process to tutor using Zoom and will be ready soon.

Due to covid19 I'm not seeing students face-to-face. I'm currently working with a couple students using Zoom and hope to offer tutoring online in the near future.

Math doesn't have to be drudgery. This is a note one of my younger tutoring students wrote to me:
"This math teacher is awsome. And she helps me with really hard math like areas and line segment its super hard but shes really nice and I really would like more time with her but its fine she has to help my other siblings to so its cool."

The math curriculum has changed much over the last few years, and even for the last one. More is demanded of students of all levels. One of my 8th-grade students is learning content that used to be taught in advanced algebra classes at a high school level. Often, parents can't help their children even at much lower levels as they were taught in a very different way. In addition, textbooks are out of fashion which can be problematic if students aren't good note takers or have problems with pay attention. The teacher is the only resource. I am happy to help if you think your child could use extra support.

Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up soon. Prepare! What do you need to know from your child's teacher or teachers? Is math a problem area? The school year is still young. One-on-one tutoring with a qualified teacher can turn reluctant learners around. Check out my website: www. christinesmathtutoring.com

Parents, this is the time to consider boosting your child's math learning. Tutoring will help to get your student off to a good start, catching up, or working ahead. I'd be happy to talk to you about your child's learning needs. Visit my website: christinesmathtutoring.com or call me at 503-334-7816.

Summer is a time for relaxation, but can also be an opportunity to catch up or work ahead on math skills.

Students need time to relax and sit back during the summer. Summer however offers an opportunity to catch and/or work ahead. Both are possible!

This school year I've worked with younger students as well, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders, in addition to the 5th through 8th grade students. With higher demands on students from a young age on, getting extra support, has proven very beneficial for students and parents alike.

How is your child dealing with Common Core? Common Core puts different demands on students than what their parents had to deal with. That often makes it harder for parents to help their children. I work with children grades 4 through 8. Check out my website christinesmathtutoring.com or call 503-334-7816 for more information.
