What to Pack in Your "First Night" Box After Moving
Moving day is exciting, but after hours of packing, loading, and unloading, the last thing you want to do is search through dozens of boxes for your toothbrush or phone charger. That's why preparing a "First Night" box is one of the smartest things you can do before your move.
Pack enough essentials to get you comfortably through your first 24 hours in your new home. Include toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, towels, and any medications your family may need. A change of clothes, pajamas, and basic cleaning supplies can also make settling in much easier.
Don't forget your phone chargers, important documents, wallets, keys, and any pet supplies if you're moving with animals. If you have young children, pack their favorite toys, snacks, diapers, or bedtime items to help them feel comfortable in the new environment.
Finally, include a few basic kitchen items such as paper plates, disposable utensils, bottled water, coffee supplies, and easy-to-prepare snacks or meals. After a long moving day, you'll appreciate having everything you need within reach instead of opening box after box.
At Portland Movers Company, we encourage every customer to prepare a First Night box before moving day. It's a simple step that reduces stress and helps you start enjoying your new home the moment you arrive.
