One of the biggest concerns couples have about planning a destination wedding is figuring out who they're actually working with and where to even begin.

That's one of the reasons I believe working with an experienced destination wedding specialist makes such a difference.

✨ AVA Resort Wedding Insider Series | Part 7 ✨

Toward the end of our conversation, I asked Maria what she feels truly sets AVA Resort apart from other all-inclusive resorts.

One thing that stood out to me is how much emphasis AVA places on creating a modern, elevated experience… not just through the design and amenities, but also through innovation and sustainability efforts like solar panels, Tesla batteries, and saltwater pools.

And while the resort offers beautiful ocean views, I’ll continue to say honestly that if having a bright turquoise Caribbean beach is your top priority, this probably wouldn’t be my first recommendation.

But if you’re looking for modern luxury, incredible amenities, amazing dining, nightlife, and a resort experience that feels elevated and energetic, I can absolutely see why so many couples are interested in AVA.

✨ AVA Resort Wedding Insider Series | Part 6 ✨

I’m a foodie… and honestly, all-inclusive food can be VERY hit or miss 😅

Since I travel to all-inclusive resorts often, food is one of the biggest things I pay attention to when evaluating a resort experience… especially for destination wedding groups where guests are staying for several days.

While chatting with Maria from AVA Resort, we talked about their approach to food, the variety of dining experiences available, and how they accommodate guests with food allergies as well.

And overall? I was genuinely impressed.

One thing I appreciated is that the resort seems to understand that dining is part of the EXPERIENCE, not just something guests have to do between events.

In full transparency, not every restaurant was my personal favorite…but I’d still give it at least 4.2 out of 5 stars ⭐️

✨ AVA Resort Wedding Insider Series | Part 5 ✨

One thing I've learned after planning destination weddings for years is that the "best" resort is different for every couple.

A resort can be beautiful, have amazing service, incredible food, and stunning wedding venues... and still not be the right fit for everyone.

My honest take on AVA?

If you're looking for a lush jungle atmosphere, boho aesthetics, Tulum vibes, or that bright turquoise Caribbean water Cancun is famous for, this probably wouldn't be my first recommendation.

However, if you love modern luxury, an elevated atmosphere, beautiful event spaces, amazing dining, and a resort that truly offers something for every generation, I think AVA deserves a serious look.

One of the things that stood out to me most is how well it works for multigenerational wedding groups. Whether it's grandparents, parents, teens, young adults, or friends looking for nightlife, there are activities and experiences for everyone.

That's why choosing the right resort matters so much. It's not just about the wedding day. It's about creating an experience that feels like YOU and gives your guests an unforgettable vacation too.

✨ AVA Resort Wedding Insider Series | Part 4 ✨

One of the things I love asking resorts about is flexibility… because every destination wedding couple has a completely different vision for their celebration.

While chatting with Maria, the wedding sales manager at AVA Resort, she shared that they can accommodate intimate weddings of around 20 guests all the way up to celebrations with 600 guests on one of their larger terraces.

We also talked briefly about South Asian weddings and the resort’s ability to host those celebrations as well.

This is such an important reminder that choosing the right resort isn’t just about beautiful views… it’s about finding a place that truly fits the experience and guest count you envision for your wedding.

One thing I always encourage destination wedding couples to think about is the overall guest experience… because destination weddings are about so much more than just the ceremony and reception.

While chatting with Maria, the wedding sales manager at AVA Resort, we talked about some of the fun activities wedding groups can enjoy together throughout the trip… from mixology classes and signature cocktails to bowling parties and arcade fun for teens.

I loved hearing how many different options there are for groups to connect and create memories together outside of the wedding events themselves.

One concern many destination wedding couples have is whether they’ll feel like “just another wedding” at a large all-inclusive resort.

So I asked Maria, the wedding sales manager at AVA Resort, to share how many weddings they host each day, how outdoor venue curfews work, and what options couples have for continuing the celebration after the reception.

One thing I really appreciated hearing was that AVA limits the number of weddings hosted daily, including only one South Asian wedding at a time, which speaks to the level of attention and experience they want couples to have.

And for couples wanting an after party vibe… Dez nightclub is open until 2 AM. 🎉

These are exactly the kinds of details that can make a HUGE difference when choosing the right destination wedding resort.
